The Cosmology of Palm Garden.

While the world around them is chaotic,  Inklings look to the skies to guide them・:*:・.✫*゚

Palm Garden is wild, chaotic, and beautiful . It is Protean. ・゜゜・.

Dreams co-exist in a thick layer of ideas that covers the world.*:・゚✧*:・゚✧

Not only is our planet still forming, but it is filled with barely contained power. *•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚*·̩̩̥͙

While the landscape is shifting, changing and forming, when Inklings look up in the skies, they see the universe that surrounds them in sharp focus.

The 12 Celestial bodies above are clear, formed and stable.

The Signs are guardians and guides in Palm Garden: present and reliable landmarks in a complex world.

Every Inkling is born under a changing sky. And each year, the constellations above and around their world rotate through twelve seasons that shift and center different types of thinking.

Each Season is defined by a fixture that becomes closest to the world as it orbits, and influences the moods, events and natural systems of Palm Garden.

As each Inkling emerges, it is affected by a celestial patron. Their personalities and artistic styles may be defined by the position relative to these orbital periods.

THE STARS & CELESTIAL BODIES IN PALM GARDEN'S ORBIT:

The Convergence ˚•♦•˚(18 July -  18 Aug)

The first season in Palm Garden’s year begins as all the planets in the system where Palm Garden resides align together in a beautiful cosmic ballet. This moment of harmony is a peaceful period of reflection and anticipation for what each new year will bring.

The Binary 。:●൦:* (18 Aug - 17 Sep)

Two stars visible in the sky beyond Palm Garden exist in a dance, sharing gasses and materials to create a partner system. While this collaboration can be volatile at times, together they will someday create an amazing spectacle… a supernova. This season is characterized by socialization for Inklings as the harmony of The Convergence breaks and tides become unpredictable as the gravitational forces fluctuate between the two dancing stars.

The Nova  ━ ⋇ ━ (18 Sep - 17 Oct)

During certain times of Palm Garden’s year, a radial Nova lights up the sky. The explosive result of the end of a star’s life, radiating its material and inspiration out into the universe, the Nova is a reminder of the creative worlds that came before Palm Garden. It’s a time for reflection and seeking out inspiration from the past and present.

The Galaxy ・○o。. (18 Oct - 17 Nov)

While Palm Garden is infinite, there is a vast expanse beyond that may inspire, affect and guide its denizens to continue to look outside themselves. In the night sky, a band of stars is visible during certain periods of the year reminding us that we are not alone. During the Galaxy’s season, Inklings are invited to reach out beyond their limits, to consider the biggest picture and reach as far as their imagination will span.

The Comet ⋆ˊˎ- (18 Nov - 17 Dec)

A traveling rock that periodically enters the orbit of Palm Garden, it is a catalyst that drives change. As the Comet approaches the world, it pulls at Palm Garden, shaking things up and bringing hidden things to the surface. A time of excitement and turmoil, this Comet’s gravitational forces create waves and tides that affect the world, from the Dunedrift to the Scalefields, earthquakes, floods, and sudden droughts remind Inklings that life is unpredictable, and the way through is working together.

The Nebula ◦∘  ൦∘ ◦ (18 Dec - 17 Jan)

A cloud of swirling debris lights up the night sky during a special season of Palm Garden’s year. These swirling elements slowly spin closer and closer until they pressurize into a star, planets and a new place to begin in a far future. During the season of the Nebula, Inklings spend time traveling to the Primordial Soup Kitchen, finding inspiration and comfort in the communal creative energy.

The Moon 。˚☽˚。 (18 Jan - 17 Feb)

A partner to Palm Garden, a shining body in the night sky illuminates the night in Palm Garden. Similar to Earth’s moon, but not quite, it orbits our world monthly, waxing, waning, and pulling at the tides. The season of the Moon is when the planetoid is closest to Palm Garden, shining brightly in the night, and creating high tides. Inklings are drawn out into the darkness to explore the many mysteries of Palm Garden only revealed when limned in moonlight.

The Seven Sisters ・゚゚・。∘ ゚(18 Feb - 17 Mar)

A constellation of stars in the night sky, The Seven Sisters is also the oldest shared story in human memory, influencing cultures globally, they are part of the birth of all human connection. While Palm Garden is not our Earth, the Seven Sisters appear in its sky. This is a season of storytelling, and an auspicious moment to begin a quest or journey. You may find Inklings in the wilderness and share a tale: this is a time to answer the call to adventure.

The North Star -: ✧ :- (18 Mar - 17 Apr)

The brightest star in Palm Garden’s sky, this star is the closest star to our world. Visible in the sky for the whole year, it traverses the axis of Palm Garden, guiding its creatures—regardless of where they are on the planet. This is a time to focus on goals and identify what is most important to each Inkling and each creative project. During this time of the year, many major questions are asked in the Forum and new big ideas are brought to light.

The Field .・:*:・゚(18 Apr - 17 May)

One period of each year, Palm Garden orbits through a meteor field, filling the sky with shooting stars and creating a magical mood to inspire all of its creatures. As though the universe is “throwing it all at the wall,” this is a time of celebration and play as Inklings open their minds and take events as they come. If they can go with the flow, this season can help Inklings see things from new perspectives.

The Rings : ・ ┉ ൦┉。 (18 May - 17 Jun)

At the equator of Palm Garden, a beautiful set of colorful rings span the planet, shimmering in the night sky, they waver and flow around the planet, creating a beautiful light show when light is low. Creating a twilight throughout each night of this season, Inklings are reminded of the sheer beauty of the world around them and the wonders it holds. Inklings can often be found enjoying the wider world outside their niches and meditating during this season.

The Eclipse ━●━ (18 Jun - 17 July)

Once each year, the orbiting moon obscures the light directed at Palm Garden, this casts echoing shadows across the surface of the world. While the eclipse itself lasts only for a few minutes, the season anticipating it is one for celebration and reflection. Feasts and revels bringing the year to the close invite each Inkling to share their new ideas and creations from the year.
