Mapping the contours of code as material.
Mapping the contours of code as material.

The first known chain letter came from heaven. Since then, the format has proliferated in countless, stupid ways. A curse that shows up in your inbox. A fortune from an unknown sender. Pass it on. Written into every chainletter is connection, and agency. It becomes a prophecy that you fulfill.

It’s through that lens that we can, and should, see digital culture. Ours is a world that’s been shaped by speculation, collapse, and profound creativity. It’s a place that’s becoming a place, still. Your voice will give it form.

Chainletter is a quarterly project that explores the emerging ecology of Web3. Our first issue centers code as material, looking at generativity in a post-AI world. Our goal is to share tools for artists working in this medium; to illuminate a spectrum of futures, through the experience of blockchain-based developers and creators. And our vision is to map the contours of this new terrain. To see the world on chain, and in flux, and to celebrate it.
